Technostalgia.
May 4, 2003 – 1:32 pmI was browsing WyldKyss’ site when I was reminded of my first days in the world of computer networking. I used to frequent BBSes in Los Angeles back in the late ’80s and early ’90s. I used the handle “tetsuo” (it was new at the time) and it stuck for several years. I miss the simplicity of one line BBSes. I miss the localness of it. Too bad most of the people I know live all over the map, it rules out the “User Meet” factor. That became 90% of BBSing, cracking inside jokes from the user meets and pissing off the L@m3rs that couldn’t go. We trashed many a Denny’s. Oh I miss those carefree days. I feel like setting up a DOS 6.22 system just for old times sake. I should probably learn Linux instead. All of the hassle, none of uselessness.
I think I’ll do a little coding….get my techy juices flowing….time for a coke.
