Transitioning Away from Live Journal.
February 19, 2008 – 8:40 pmI’m sure you’ve noticed that my posting and interactions via comments have declined. Unfortunately, this will probably not improve. In fact, I’m in the process of leaving LJ. Now wait! Don’t un-friend me just yet! This is still in process and is at least a few weeks away. I’m getting web space and will be moving to an honest-to-goodness blog. It will have RSS feeds so if you want you can add it to your friends list via syndication. I’ll keep the LJ account, but once I make the transition to the blog, I will only use this account to read my friends list.
Why am I doing this? Well a while back there was a big stir over the censorship and various nasty things that could happen to you if Six-Apart decided to suspend you. I didn’t like that and it got me thinking about how I should be taking more control of my blog/journal/whatever. This was only one consideration. I also want to move from the “account on Live Journal” (and all that that implies) to a blog as part of multi-media site. Live Journal is pretty constraining for me. I find that I limit a lot of what I talk about as maybe “boring” to my current collection of friends/readers. I want to do more writing, music, and art. Maybe a podcast. I’m looking forward to it.
In addition to the blog/site for me, there are a few other sites that are in the works…something that will hopefully make a little cash.
Nothing is definite or set in stone. I just know my future lies on a dedicated site. I’ll keep you posted.
